Roads and infrastructure works are what turn a collection of buildings into a functioning development. Solid Home Buildings delivers the full external scope — underground utilities, drainage and sewerage networks, water tanks, irrigation, asphalt roads, interlock paving, sidewalks, boundary structures and specialised foundations — as a single coordinated package across the Kingdom.
Handling this scope in-house alongside our precast and modular construction means the infrastructure is planned around the buildings from the start, rather than squeezed in afterwards by a separate contractor working from drawings nobody reconciled.
Why Infrastructure Sequencing Makes or Breaks a Programme
External works are consistently underestimated. They are shown as a thin band around the edge of a site plan and treated as the easy part — until the day a drainage run has to cross a completed access road, or an irrigation main is found to sit exactly where a boundary wall foundation was just poured.
Underground services must go in before pavements. Levels must be resolved before anything is surfaced. Deep utilities have to be installed before shallow ones. Get the sequence wrong and you excavate through finished work — at cost, and in front of your client. Getting it right is a planning discipline, and it is why we prefer to hold the whole external package under one accountable team.
Underground Utilities and Water Systems
Stormwater Drainage Networks
Complete stormwater collection and disposal systems — gullies, catch basins, pipework, manholes, soakaways and outfalls — designed for the intense, short-duration rainfall events that characterise Saudi conditions. A system sized for average rainfall will flood; the design case is the storm that arrives once every few years and puts water where it should not be. We design and install for that event.
Sewerage Networks
Foul drainage systems including pipework, manholes, inspection chambers, pumping stations and connections to municipal networks or on-site treatment. Gradients, invert levels and materials are set to the relevant authority requirements, with testing and documentation on completion.
Underground Water Tanks
Reinforced concrete and precast water storage tanks for potable supply, irrigation reserve and firefighting, constructed with the waterproofing, access, ventilation and structural detailing each duty requires. Firefighting reserves in particular carry regulatory obligations, and we build them to satisfy inspection first time.
Irrigation Pipelines
Distribution networks for landscape irrigation across developments — mains, laterals, valve chambers and control provisions — installed to depths and specifications that protect them from vehicle loading and thermal damage.
Utility Chambers and Pump Rooms
Integrated chambers, valve pits, electrical switching rooms and pump houses, coordinated with the networks they serve and detailed for safe maintenance access.
Roads and External Works
Subgrade Preparation
Excavation, formation, compaction and sub-base placement to the specified density and level tolerance. Pavement performance is decided here, beneath everything visible: a road built on inadequately compacted ground will rut and crack regardless of the quality of asphalt laid on top. We compact in controlled layers and test to prove it.
Asphalt Paving
Base course and wearing course asphalt for internal roads, access routes, service roads and parking areas, laid to designed thickness, falls and finish. Mix selection accounts for Saudi surface temperatures, where softening and rutting under sustained heat and static loading is a real risk for under-specified pavements.
Interlock Paving and Driveways
Concrete block paving for driveways, parking bays, plazas, walkways and landscaped areas — durable, attractive, and repairable in sections without resurfacing an entire area. Laying pattern, edge restraint and bedding detail all affect long-term performance, and all three are where cheap installations fail.
Sidewalks and Kerbs
Pedestrian footways, kerbs, channels and edge details that define the road layout, control drainage and provide safe separation between vehicles and people.
Parking Areas
Complete parking construction including subgrade, surfacing, drainage falls, kerbing and marking, designed around realistic vehicle movements rather than the maximum number of bays that fit on a drawing.
External Structures
- Boundary walls — precast or built in place, secured on properly engineered foundations.
- Guard rooms and gatehouses — including finished modular units ready for immediate use.
- Retaining walls — engineered for level changes, embankments and terracing.
- Pergola foundations — bases and fixings for shade structures and landscape features.
- Lift pits — waterproofed structures built to the equipment supplier tolerances.
- Swimming pool structures — shells, foundations and associated plant provisions.
What You Gain From an Integrated External Package
One Party Accountable for the Interfaces
When drainage, roads, utilities and structures sit with different contractors, every clash becomes a negotiation. With a single provider, the clash is resolved on a drawing before anyone excavates — because the same team owns both sides of it.
Sequencing That Protects Finished Work
We plan deep services first, then shallow, then formation, then surfacing, so nothing finished gets broken out for something that should have been installed earlier. That sounds obvious; it is also the single most common source of avoidable rework on developments.
Levels Resolved Once, Across the Whole Site
Building thresholds, road levels, drainage inverts and landscape falls all have to agree with each other. Resolving them as one coordinated model — rather than package by package — prevents the ponding, kerb mismatches and awkward step details that otherwise appear at handover.
Documented Quality
Buried infrastructure cannot be inspected later without excavation, so records are the only durable proof of what was installed. Our QA/QC department maintains compaction testing, concrete testing, pipe testing and as-built documentation throughout, and hands you a complete file.
Reduced Long-Term Maintenance
Correct falls, adequate pavement thickness, properly bedded pipework and durable materials cost slightly more once and save repeatedly. Infrastructure built to the minimum tends to generate maintenance costs within its first few years — usually after the contractor has left.
Projects We Serve
- Residential developments — full external works for villa communities and compounds.
- Commercial and retail sites — access roads, parking, drainage and services.
- Industrial facilities — heavy-duty pavements, yard areas and utility networks.
- Educational and healthcare campuses — circulation, parking and site services.
- Utility and infrastructure sites — access, drainage and enclosure for operational facilities.
- Master-planned developments — phased infrastructure coordinated across multiple construction packages.
Engineered for Saudi Conditions
Design decisions here are climate-driven. Drainage must handle sudden high-intensity storms after long dry periods, when accumulated dust and debris are washed into the system at once. Asphalt must resist rutting at surface temperatures far above what temperate specifications assume. Buried concrete and pipework must tolerate aggressive, salt-bearing soils in many parts of the Kingdom.
We specify materials and details for those realities, in compliance with the Saudi Building Code, municipal requirements and applicable international standards. SHB holds full commercial registration, industrial facility licensing and environmental permitting.

Plan Your External Works Package
Send us your site layout, levels and services requirements and our technical team will return a scope proposal, an outline sequence and a quotation. Bringing us in during design rather than after tender lets us resolve level and routing conflicts on paper, where they cost nothing to fix.
